New in Basecamp: New repeat options, bookmark comments & more

Basecamp is continuously getting better. Sometimes, it’s a major new addition like Card Tables. Other times, it’s a small improvement that makes things much easier. Today, we have four such improvements to share—they’re all live in your Basecamp account.

Quarterly to-dos, bi-monthly events, and more

First up, recurring events and to-dos now have custom Weekly and Monthly repeating options. For example, to set up a quarterly meeting, choose Monthly custom and select every 3 months. Or maybe you have a to-do that repeats every 6 weeks—choose Weekly custom and set it to 6 weeks. This has been a popular request and we’re excited to share it with you!

Bookmark and link to comments

You can now bookmark comments to refer back to later. Click ••• next to a comment and then Bookmark. We also added the ability to copy a link to a comment to reference in another conversation. As a bonus, we added that for Campfire, too. Look for it in the ••• menu next to a message.

Copy to-dos to the same list

To-dos can now be copied within the same list. Previously, the only option was to copy to a different list, which meant a few extra steps. Choose a few to-dos or a to-do group, click Copy, pick A to-do list in this project from the list, and select the same to-do list.

Quickly rename a tool

Finally, you’ve always been able to change the name of a tool inside a project, but you had to leave the tool to do it. Now, while you’re working with your to-dos, card table, etc., just click ••• in the top-right corner and choose Rename this tool. Maybe you want to change Campfire to Chat, Message Board to Announcements, or Card Table to Analytics Questions. The option is now a click away.

We hope these update make it easier and faster to get work done in Basecamp. Many of these were sparked by feedback from customers, so keep sharing ideas and questions. Thanks as always for being a customer.
