New in Basecamp: Do more with Public Links

Public links let you share parts of Basecamp with people outside your account. Maybe you have a punch list to show a contractor or a training document to give volunteers. Turn on a public link and they can access it without logging in.

Earlier this year, we added public links to Card Tables and put a lot of thought into how they work. We're now updating all publicly-shared pages so the experience is just as polished. Plus, we added a new feature to make them even better. Here's what's new:

Include comments in public links

Sometimes, you just need to share a message, document, or to-do. But other times, there's a discussion in the comments that would be useful to include, too. Now you have the option to include comments when you share something publicly.

Use the ••• menu on the item and click Get a public link. Check Show all comments, then generate the shareable link.

Comments are not automatically included on public links. Check the box to include them.

Once checked, all current and future comments will be visible on the public version. We also remind you that your comments will be public.

A message in the comments section reminds you if comments have been included for a public link.

Open to-dos and events for more details

Before, shared to-do lists and schedules didn't have any links. Even though you could see the individual to-dos and events, you weren't able to open them up to get the full details. We fixed that!

Now, anyone with the public link can click on to-dos or events to get more information.

Finally, we made some visual improvements to public pages. You'll now see people's avatars in addition to their names, and we added icons for dates, comment counts, and repeating items. To-do group colors are included, too.

Public links for scheduled events were basic before, but now people with the link can access notes, discussions, and even a clickable Zoom link.

Public links for events are now clickable to show additional details.

We think these updates make public links much more useful. We hope you agree!
