New in Basecamp: Better events, including one-click video access and everyday language support

Scheduling client meetings and team calls happens all the time in Basecamp. It's an essential tool, so we set out to improve the experience and bring over what we learned building HEY Calendar. That includes two new features — everyday language support for adding events and quick access to video meetings! Here's what's new.

Streamlined scheduling

Adding an event to the schedule opens up a new, streamlined event popup. The core functionality hasn't changed, we just polished the experience. The things you don't always need are tucked out of the way, keeping things clean and compact.

Click to expand the fields when you need to add notes or make the event repeat each week. When you add people, the option to notify them expands too.

Add events with everyday language

You've always been able to schedule events by choosing dates and times from the drop downs. Wouldn't it be nice to use everyday language? We thought so.

Add your event details to the name of the event, like "Team call next Friday at 10 a.m." or "Lunch with Janet tomorrow at noon." Basecamp adjusts the date and time automatically. Voilà!

Quick access to video meetings

As a remote company, we rely on video calls to collaborate in real time. You likely do, too! But tracking down those links quickly isn't always easy. How many times have you been digging for the video link moments before the call started? We've been there.

Before, the only option was to paste the meeting URL into the notes section of your event. Now, there's a dedicated link field. Click Link while adding an event and paste the URL. For Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and other services, the link becomes a green Join button on the event page. One click and you're in!

When you add or subscribe to events in another calendar, like Google Calendar or Outlook, the link will be there, too.

This quick video shows the event updates in action:

We hope the refreshed design and added features make working with events easier than ever!
