New in Basecamp: Time travel and Markers in the Lineup, 24-hour clock, and more

Hey there! 👋 We've released a bunch of improvements to make your Basecamp experience even better.

Leveling up the Lineup

The first two make the Lineup a better tool for planning. Currently, the Lineup shows you what's in play, who's working on what, and when projects start and end.

Now, you can travel into the future to see what's coming up. You'll see a button that lets you move forward 6 weeks at a time. It helps you get a sense for what's ahead. Is there room for more? Are too many deadlines coming together at once? You can also go back and revisit the past.

We didn't stop there. The new Markers feature makes it possible to highlight important, company-wide dates and milestones in the Lineup, like the end of a quarter or the start of summer holidays. The marker appears as a vertical line with its name at the top, similar to Today.

Admins will see a new Add marker button. Just click a marker to edit or remove it.

If you haven't used the Lineup recently, add a start and end date to a project and it will automatically be tracked there. Projects are only shown to people who have access to them.

Choose whether to-dos appear in the Schedule

The Schedule is the place to see the events and due dates for a project. Sometimes, though, a lot of to-dos make it hard to find the meetings and milestones, especially if you sync the schedule with a calendar app.

Now, you have the option to not include assignments. Visit the Change Tools page for a project and click Choose what to show for the schedule.

Customize the schedule to what works best for the project. One option: add a schedule for events and another for assignments.

24-hour clock

Many of us use the 24-hour clock format, but not in Basecamp — 14:22 has always been 2:22 PM. Until now!

Head over to the revamped Preferences page (you'll find the link under your avatar at the top) and choose your preferred time format. No more mental gymnastics to figure out the time. This short video shows how it works.

We hope you enjoy these additions. Thanks for being a Basecamp customer!
