New in Basecamp: Steps for Cards

Steps help you capture work in more detail so nothing is missed, and they’re available in Card Tables today! Here’s a quick look.

Imagine you're responsible for writing an article, which is captured in a card. You can add steps to the card like research, write first draft, edit, add images, and publish. Check off the steps as you make progress to give you (and those following along) a sense for what's done and what's left.

If multiple people are working on the same thing, you can assign people to the steps. Someone else might be responsible for editing and a designer is going to lend a hand with the images. Steps let you be specific about who is responsible for what.

Steps are lightweight and meant for straightforward tasks, so they don't have descriptions and comments of their own. Discussion happens on the card itself to keep everyone in the loop.
